ide master sata slave

hello, i am wondering if i can put my sons sata hdd as a slave in my pc, my hdd is ide i have sata ports on my motherboard the only thing 1 is blue and the other is black whats the diff, thanks for your help. : )

I assume you mean as a second drive - you can't connect it as a slave, a slave is a second drive on the same controller, and you will be connecting to a different controller.

Shouldn't be a problem, just connect the SATA drive to the blue socket. You may need to enable the SATA controller in the BIOS, and disable it as a boot device.
