Computer will not shut down, first time.

I have asked this question before, but had little response.
On my computer operating Windows XP, I have to switch my computer off twice before it will close down.
I have used Ccleaner to get rid of the junk, and also done scans with Ad-Aaware and spybot, search and destroy, but with no success.

only real solution is to rebuild the system ... making sure you use the latest drivers - updating all your drivers could work also ...and you should anyhow ... so not a complete waste - (till it happens again).
If you are lucky ... it could be as simple as a corrupt shutdown sound file .... (are you feeling lucky?)
... do you get the twinkly sound?
