Screen virus?

Can anybody help please? My monitor is being eaten into with black shapes from the lower left hand corner of the screen. I am assuming this is a virus of some sort. Does anybody know what it is and how I can get rid of it? Would be very grateful for any help - thankyou.

Just a guess but it could be a hardware failure. Sometimes the contact between the LCD screen and the electronics behind it make poor contact.

More likey to be a probelem in a laptop because the frame of the screen is much lighter and can get distorted.

Does it stay black all the time or does it come and go, the other poster is prob right it might be a problem with your screen, however if it goes away then you might have a motherboard problem or something wrong with the graphics card in your machine.
