Installing a second internal hard drive

Hi.

I want to add a second hard disk drive to my computer.

I want an internal drive rather than an external one as they seem to be cheaper and my desk is already cluttered with various peripherals.

I do have some knowledge of the internal workings of my computer as I have recently added more RAM to it.

However, I still have a few questions that need answering.

How do I know whether my computer works with SATA or IDE hard drives?

Also, how do I know whether my computer has the room inside it for a second hard drive?

Lastly, is installing a second hard disk drive as straight forward a process as installing RAM is?

Thanks for your help.
