It's Geil 2GB PC2-5300 667mhz DDR2 SO-DIMM Mac Series.

Looking at the spec, everything points to yes it would work in my Aspire 5710, except for the fact it mentions works for Apple's systems...

Do they somehow differ for Macs?

visit http://www.crucial.com/uk/ and use the system scanner tool, this should give you suitable upgrades.

It's not dependent on you buying from them either.
