Before burning the project into a video DVD, did you save the project file (Not the video file) anywhere in your computer? If you simply created the content and burned it onto a DVD through Windows Movie Maker you may not of saved it as an editable windows movie maker project.

I had it saved as a project file in windows movie maker and then video file is Microsoft DVD Maker. When I try and open it in the DVD Maker it says the file could not find a Movie make file. I have the file in Movie Maker but when I try and open it it tells me it is not valid.
