i have a problem with my lap top and its really beating me now, i have lost the sound and the volume symbol at the bottom of my screen has got a cross through it ,can anybody help?

sounds like it's just muted, click on it once and make sure there is no tick in the mute box.

i have tried to left click on it but nothing happens and when i right click on it i get a option of:
play back devices,
recording devices,
sonnds, but when i scroll my mouse over it it says no audio output device i installed,

start > settings > control panel > system

click on hardware tab and select device manager and check you have devices listed under sound section, and that you have NO devices listed as unknown devices.

if that all looks ok then start > run and type in "services.msc"

scroll down and find the windows audio service and check it says started next to it, if it doesn't double click it and select start service and set it to start automatically.

Have you added any new software? My sis done this and it damaged her computer..it is irrepairable

it's not unrepairable, adding software can not make a computer unrepairable, it just means the person doesn't know what to do to sort it out.
