Why do some old e mails disappear from the inbox every month and where do they go? i want to find an old one that has not been deleted but has disappeared as it is now outdated.

I think there is simply a rolling deletion going on - it will save server space for them. I copy and save onto my local machine any important emails - this is of no comfort to you having lost an important one.
