photoshop chrome not working

hi

i hve photoshop cs3 and have been tryin to follow some tutorials to make a chrome effect, however, my chrome filter seems to do nothin at all no matter how much I adjust it.. can anyone help... would it be somethin i have turned off but it does nto seem to give a chrome effect..

but gives a more swirl effect.. all very odd..

Does the chrome effect come up as an option under the sketch filter? Is it grayed out?
Try the Image tab/Mode and make sure the image is in a RGB color format or most of the filters won't work.
