missing letter L

my brother in law has a MEDION multi media notebook MD 96290 and recently the letter L has ceased to function both upper & lower case .Is this likely to be a faulty connection beneath the letter or is there a way of rectifying the problem?

Very likely a failed key switch contact. They are generally contained in a one piece module and cannot be individually replaced. You may be able to get the module as a spare part.

The only simple solution is to plug in an external keyboard.
