photo printing

have just got gimp2 to alter my photos before printing, lightening, red eye etc, but when i click file then save , before printing altered image, it comes up jpeg image plug in could not save image.? tried again and a box above it said could not open documents/ settings photos for writing. permission denied. can anyone help please . only a learner still ( silver server ha )
