overclocking

I bought a pc with hd 4870 x2 graphic cards, but their overclocked, and i think this is causing alot of problems playing games - mainly overheating, causing it to crash after about an hour or so of gameplay. How can i stop the overclocking? thing is - if i try to restore defaults - defaults are the overclocked settings!

According to TomsHardware.com, the standard settings are:
GPU: 750 MHz
RAM: 900 MHz
