hi my bro just installed PARAGON BOOT MANAGER, now he can not boot his laptop, he does not have a os cd its vista and did not come with one, nor did he do a back up yet, anyone knows how to get back in his laptop with out booting from a dvd or cd, thanks
hi
all i know is that he got mixed up thought he was going to do a back up disk, but wasnt the case, he knows now that hes messed up, but now just needs to get into the laptop to sort things out,
ta anyway
does he know anybody he can borrow a vista disk from?
I don't really know vista, but I suspect the recovery consoles not changed much.
Boot the computer from the vista CD select recovery console and when you get to the console type "fixmbr" and hit enter and it will probably sort it out.
lol thats the thing he has no disks at all, vista dont put a disk in wiv it, like xp did, he was told to do a back up b4 things went silly, and thats why he was doing that, but then this happened,
im off to sony centre wiv him to see if he can get one,
but ta about the fix thing ill tell him if and when he gets back in,
he said if he doesnt sort it, hes getting hammer to it, lol
that will sort the problem,
I'm sure he (or you) must know somebody who has a vista disk... or...
Maybe even a windows XP disk, I'm wondering if a master boot record fix as I described above (fixmbr) could be run from a XP disk to fix a vista machine??
I'd be prepared to try it myself, couldn't make things worse
i could give him mine, ill tell him but the laptop is pretty new so not sure he would,
said if not he will take the HD out pop an old one he has in and use adaptor thing hes got to sort it,
so either way should do it,
and he did try f8 key to get in safe mode but that didn't work,
ill let u know how things went
thanks
I have an idea that the Paragon Boot Manager program disc has on it the facility to make a boot disc. I`m presuming he has the Paragon disc, in which case, make him a boot disc on another computer & try that.
