I am using the plug in in the wall with Karvol and degongest her with siline drops. She is only breastfed. And wants to drink every 10 minutes Could she be allergic to something that triggers this. I have also elevated her cot slightly and hoping this makes her breath better, any suggestions....

You can get those nasal aspirators that suck the stuff out of the nose but don't know whether they're recommended or not.
Every 10 mins does seem like a lot for her to be BF'ing - have you tried speaking to your health visitor about it?

thanks. Oh yes and I have used the aspiration thingy. She hates me using it but it does help. I am slightly worried about the every ten minutes feeding but thought maybe because of the cold she has she is thirsty and also because she does not even take a dummy I thought she might be using me as a pacifier....
This is my first baby, and I am a long way from home and advice. Although I am not a young mother...I am founding it a lit stressful I have all these thingys in my head thinking maybe I am just spoiling her, maybe I should let her cry more before I feed her....but I decided on the demand feeding and thought I shld try and stick to it. The HV only told me the things you guys have told me and does not seem very concerned. They say I should look out for a fever, but her temp is always the same. Surely you dont have to have a high temp to feel ill. Shld I try a bit of Calpol...
This needs investigation as it could be a condtion called choanal atresia, which is a blockage at the back of the nose. I am not going into details as you can Google it. It can affect both sides of rhe nose,or just one side. Both sides ( Bilateral choanal atresia) is a medical emergency at birth, but one side (Unilateral choanal atresia) may go undiagnosed for quite a time. See yr GP.
at 3.5 months you cant spoil her, dont worry about that, but i can understand your worries, all new parents worry. There are plenty of people on AB who will help with advice but also try the ivillage mums boards. heres the june 08 board, they will be at same stage as you and its a great place to make friends, share info and get advice http://messageboards.ivillage.co.uk/iv-ukpbjun 2008 ive used them since october 04 when i found i was expecting.
