Parallels on Mac

Hi, has anyone used the Parallel software on Mac to get Windows to work? I did try to partition the disk to use Windows but it wouldn't work and Parallels seems like a better solution anyway.

I have an iMac and want to get Vista on it, i have seen that Parallels can run XP on a Mac but i wanted to try and get Vista on. Does anyone have any experience or advice? Thanks
