Office and Notepad problem

My father in law cannot get into word or any office prog' "it flashes up on the screen and then goes back to the icons" Does any one know a "quick fix" without having to reinstall? Since he has had this problem he has been using word pad. Now he tells me that he can only print the documents and cannot open and edit them. This fault has also affected his e-mail a/c (outlook) again he can print mails but not view them on the screen. Please any suggestions?

Just pop in the install CD you got with Office, one of the otions that it starts up with is to repair your installation without having to start from scratch. If you don't have the CD though.......you are gonna have to by a new copy!

I agree with what Joanne said, do the repair, if that does not work take the whole thing out through the CP and put in a clean program from the discs, you will not find any repair on line. If you do not have the discs you will need to get a set dedicated toi the machine or at least location. I suspect that your father has not registered it with MS and if taht is the case it will cease to operate after a short period.
