start by opening my computer
go to Tools | Folder Options | View | advanced settings
is "restore previous folder window at logon" ticked?
(if it is - remove it) - see if thats cures it.
Until we establish what's going on - I'd say the last thing you want to do is a system restore.
It's perfectly normal for the real windows\system 32 folder to carry a recent date
looking in my windows folder - 15 folders have been updated since I built this machine 2/10/08
.....10 folders were last updated this week
and a system restore could just undo an update
how EXACTLY do you mean coming up
is explorer opened on startup
or does something or other appear on screen saying it's system32
is there an error message?
if so what is it EXACTLY

Yes, I'm honestly trying to help and not just for "private interests".
BTW, I'm 3rd Dan in Jujitsu if that matters? ;)
(as I noticed you blabbed some stuff about being a 2nd dan for some strange reason in a Computer question).
inafix: Let us know what works for ya to fix the problem. Hopefully all goes well. Best regards.
By the way InaFix, you can always choose to "undo last system restore" too if you do decide to try doing a System Restore and if it doesn't make things any better.

THOUGHT SO .....
if you want spam - try the local shop - we don't do it here
especially if the advice is flawed
I simply noticed on your site
(the one that says you have 0 buddies)
you say you are a third degree blackbelt .... next to the photo of you in your special pyjamas ... just wondered .... the rest of the world thinks three degrees is a seventies popgroup.
Just as an add-on to this thread...I ALWAYS advise people to turn system restore OFF. If, as sometimes happens, you get a virus, the system restore folder is the ideal place for that virus to hide...so...when you restore a supposedly clean system, back comes the virus.
Not only that, it takes up hard-drive space that could be used for other things.
