FAO Chuck, help needed in getting rid of virus please.

I have the worm virus and having whole heap of trouble getting rid of it.

I first used system restore and it won't restore back to an earlier date because of the virus.

I have tried searching in all files for the virus, no luck.

I have tried task manager, locating the virus but it won't let me delete.

Finally I downloaded a virus removing file from AVG and but it said that 'this file is executable' and it frightened me a bit so I stopped the download.

The only thing I have not tried is going to start - run, as I am not familiar with doing that.

Can you, anybody recommend a good virus removing programme.

That just means it's a program - download it and run it.

as rojash said, you'll have to run it for it to remove the problem.

and AVG is a pretty good anti virus for free, you should also get adaware free to deal with spyware.
