New Keyboard Problem.

I was given a new Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 for Xmas.
I have installed the software and it works when plugged in with the PC on, but when I turn off and restart, I just get a blank screen, saying cant find keyboard or fault.

On the box it says ''certified for Windows Vista''. I run Windows XP.

Could it not be compatible for my PC?

Thanks.

Go into the BIOS at startup by hitting probably f2, but may be different, look for a message that says hit XX to enter setup.

once in there either look for a setting that will "enable USB keyboard support".....if you can see that one then enable it.

if you can't see that setting look for one that says Halt on errors" which will probably be set to keyboard only... set it to none.

Save setting and exit and it should start up OK with the USB keyboard plugged in.

Chuck,

When I start my PC, no keys work in BIOS with my new keyboard plugged in, will it solve the problem with my old one.
Yes plug your old keyboard in and follow Chucks instructions for the USB setup etc. Once you have done that try your new keyboard.
