Laptop or Netbook
Which should i get?I want to spend as little as possible and only want it for the internet as i already have a desktop. I don`t really understand about netbooks. Are they wireless?
Or, would it be worth me getting a 1GB laptop as they seem to be cheaper than a netbook.

They seem to be a bit of a false economy (in my opinion) small in size and weight is good but the screen is mega tiny too as is their ability
A laptop would do much more for your money I would say but I may be proved wrong <:-)

Netbooks are absolutely perfect for their intended purpose - to access the internet, send emails and perform basic office tasks on the move. They are highly portable and not intended as desktop or large laptop replacements.
They are useless for typing very long documents (the keyboard is too small to be comfortable over extended use) and you will not be able to edit video or play high end games on them. Usually they don't have a cd or dvd drive.
They are wifi enabled.
You need to determine how you will use your new machine. Some laptops are too big and heavy to be truly portable but if you have no reason to carry it around, that is not a problem and a laptop will be more suitable for you.
If I were to buy a netbook, I would consider the Acer One, the MSi Wind or a a cheap and cheerful Eee running on Linux for around 100.

Try the Eeee - cheap n cheerful and perfect for browsing.
I forgot to say that my life is on my desktop - if I were to lose the information on that, or it fell in to the hands of a stranger, I would be devastated and have a lot of hassle sorting it all out.
If I were out and about a lot - on trains, for example - I wouldn't want a laptop that I used for personal stuff, but the netbook would be perfect for emailing and surfing the net. If it were lost, stolen or damaged it would be no big deal.
I badly want one, but can't justify the need for yet another computer

After extensive research pre christmas I bought my partner a Acer aspire, netbook. She loves it.
I agree with ethel that the keyboard and screen are small and I'm not sure i would be able to type for long using it but as my partner only wanted to surf the interweb and use it for email it really is very good.
It the linux version which is good but you are limited on the software you can use and additional applications that can be downloaded.
