I installed AVG 7.5 programme a while ago and I get automatic updates at 9.34am each morning.

For the last week however, half way through the process there is a message which reads ' To finish the update it is necessary to re-start your computer'
I've been doing this but it seems so unnecessary and time consuming and I wondered if any one had any suggestions.

I obviously don't want to compromise my security.

Thanks

I have AVG and it doesn't do this when mine runs, maybe you should uninstall it and then put it back on, just an idea.
AVG 7.5 is obsolete, you should replace it with AVG 8

Thanks to you both for your advice.
If I get this message, I usually leave the restart, it should finish ok when you start up again at your own convenience.
I`m not sure if avg 7.5 will update though, as rojash said it is obsolete. You can get avg 8 free from here. I think it removes 7.5 during the installation.

Many thanks Trish. I think I've cracked it with your help.

Cheers
AVG 7.5 will still update with virus definitions. It is no longer supported for program updates. I actually installed V8 but didn't like the new interface so returned to 7.5. Have been using this without any problems.
