Joining 2 CPUs (revisited!)

Just a re-post to tell the world that I have managed to install the additional hard drive and now my pc is working again. ('Big deal' I hear you say) Many thanks to VHG and Chuck F.. for their help. Only 'snag' if anyone can help that is I have dragged my music files from C drive to F drive and have them on both. I thought I would be able to simply delete the files I'd copied from the C drive. If I try in one attempt to delete the lot it says that it is 'being used'.. If I delete one file/folder at a time it does this but also removes from the F drive (although they are still shown on my playlist -just says they cannot be found!) I restored the files for now but still have both drives with a large amount of duplicated files. Any ideas - I would like to start adding to my Itunes playlist but only to drive F. and desperately need to make space on my C drive. I could go on.. but thanks sofar.. Obviously I'm only slightly computer literate but a good learner!

If deleting it from the C drive also deletes it from the F drive, then it seems that rather than copying the files, you've simply created shortcuts.

Delete them them all from the F drive and start again.

Drag with the RIGHT mouse button to the F drive. When you release the button a menu will pop up. Choose Move here. Another way to move them is to select the files on C, RIGHT-click, chose Cut, go to the F, RIGHT-click, chose paste

Cancel that! (It's late, and my brain's not in gear)

On second thoughts, even if you'd only created short cuts, at the very least the short cuts would remain when you deleted from the C, so I can't actually imagine what's going on!

tks rojash.. it must be something simple like that.. I'll try right click later. these must be something I'm doing wrong because I'd duplicated files /links when trying to tidy my c drive before the f drive was ever thought of.
