Factory Settings for Acer Aspire 8000 (2002)

I want to reset the above machine back to factory settings as it has windows XP Pro on it but I can't get updates as it is not a genuine copy. I have all the original disks, System CD, Recovery 1, Recovery 2 and a Recource-CD. I rang Acer Tech help and they told me to launch the Disk2Disk recovery feature which should be on this machine, by starting the machine then when the Acer splash screen appears hold down ALT and repeatedly press F10. This they say should recover the system without using any recovery disks. I have tried this method numerous times but can't get it to do anything. Please ca anyone help, I'm not really a techie so simple directions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.
