internet explorer experiencing problems

When I click on the top r/h X to close a page, I keep getting the message "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem". What is happening, and how can I fix this?

Is it on every website you visit or just one?

Not on every website, but quite a few random ones.

Press Ctrl/Alt/delete to see if other programs are running. Delete any you dont want.

Have you updated explorer lately? My old explorer worked fine but I recently updated it with micrsoft updates and have had nothing but problems. The worst site was facebook. It kept locking up or take ages to load. I am now using Firefox which doesnt seem to crash and loads so much quicker. Might be worth a go.

Yes Steve, I did recently update Explorer, and come to think of it - that's when my problem started.

download Firefox - do it now as Answerbank is v.busy with xword solutions.
