IP address, can you answer this

my m8 just rang and asked me if she took her laptop on holiday with her would IP address stay the same? think she's trying to ask if its her location what gives her the IP address or the device she's using i have no idea so thought i'd ask you lot........... also not sure why she'd need to know this lol but who knows what goes on in her head lol

it's the provider that provides the ip address
and yes different ranges are used in different countries

Some services on the interent are country specific.

So, for example, I dont think the BBC iplayer can be used outside the UK.

I guess she think that if her laptop still has a "UK" IP address she can still use the iplayer (or whatever it is she wants to use on the internet)

thank you, she has now explained herself, she says she's going on holiday but her dad doesn't no lol and she wants to know if he dad can tell that she is not in england by checking the properties on the email she sends to him? or will it stay the same cos she's using her own laptop?
(her dad is very protective and she's went away with her b/f)

It depends how computer savvy her dad is but it is possible he will know she's out of the country

Her dad would need to be VERY computer savvy to tell though - it's not obvious at all.
