You may find that your 'd' drive is your dvd/cd player/recorder....therefore, will be empty until you insert a cd/dvd....
Some hard disks are divided into sections called "partitions". If this is the case with yours then you may have a "C" and a "D" (as magicmerlin says, make sure "D" is not your CD drive).

IF "D" is on your hard disk then your laptop does not just "use" it, you have to TELL it to use it.

So if you copy digital pictures from your camera to hard disk tell it to put them on "D".

If you download mp3 files or video files, then just set the program so its puts them on "D" not "C".

While most times Windows will put things on "C" by default, if you want things on "D" instead then YOU have to specify it.

dub

you really need to pick up some basic skills first
If you aren't comfortable with moving files (one of the most basic functions) you should find the "for dummies" series informative

Untill you are confident doing this - it's best not to - because it's just too easy to loose possibly important files
I always prefer my important files to be tight, not loose ;)

sorry AC, couldn't resist ;)

Dub, good advice from AC, the for dummies books are great for beginners.
Joe it's not like a kitchen drawer you know, you can get rid of the old stuff you just don;t use any more lol
I'm having a bad day this week
are you AC? any particular day or have you not decided yet? : )
