photo's gone!!!!
Hi, I was trying to join Smilebox and halfway thro' I changed my mind, it came up delete all, (which I thought would mean the pics already downloaded, so stupidly I clicked it. Now ALL my pictures have disappeared, from My documents, my pictures, finepix and picasa. I do have a lot of them backed up on cds, but not all. There is nothing in the recycle bin either. I am sure I won't be able to retrieve them, but I am pinning my hopes on AB that someone will tell me different PLEASE! I am not very computer literate as is obvious. TIA Shirl

by the look of it they are gone - not moved
download and install the prog (it's easy) - use the run option and it will install directly to machine
then answer yes to everything - eventually the prog will startup and you choode the disc to examine
it will whizz and bang for a few mins - then you'll get a list of the deleted files
I might have mislead you - its a tedious mindnumbung job - not complicated - just a real pain
this is the hard bit - there will be 10s of 1000s you have to sort through highlight and undelete each file you recognise - takes chuffing ages

Thanks again AC , yes I think I can do that, thanks to your explanation, but if you would just reply again, (What a worrit I am!) but I looked at the site you said and it says 'Avira recovery products Un erace personal and NTFSHdos have been discontinued and are no longer supported by Aviva. You may download them but they accept no liability' Will there be a risk if I do download it? Can't be doing with doing something else wrong or I WILL be up the creek!! TIA Shirl
aye lass tha's a worrit - but nobbut wot can't be sorted
I've used both for years without problems - avira undelete isn't the most sophisticated piece of kit - but it is easy to use and that's why I recommended it
I use a range of 'puter tools some cost ridiculous money but it's this sort of job I still generally start with avira
they stopped developing it - but it was (IS) already a good tool
I wouldn't recommend something I'd never used without warning you and while I don't use it every day - i do use it as a first option.

O.K.AC that's me calmed down, and yes I know you would warn anyone if there might be a problem, (I have read lots of your helpful replies) I just thought you may not have been on the site for a while and the message might be fairly new, did not doubt your advice for a moment, honest injun!! I will be on the case asap. if not sooner! Thanks again, Shirl
Hi AC, well you were certainly right when you said it was mind-numbing! (I'd rather go into the garden and eat worms!) No success, to speak of, I found about eight pics, I think I found some folders but there wasn't anything in them!! I have been on hours.......I am sure they are there somewhere but I had to stop before I fell off my perch! Thank you very much for your help, I have decided enough is enough, and teach me to be more careful next time. What a good thing I had backed the majority up on disc - BE WARNED everyone, do as the experts tell us! Shirl
