cannot burn films

i have a subscription to graboid but whenever i try to put any of the films i download onto disc, they copy fine and the film is there on the disc...but they wont play in an ordinary machine...

i have used the correct setting for copying - as i read thru the choices and chose the most versatile one that would play on older pcs and any player...bust it doesnt work

could this be because of the file format - or the type of disc?
they were dvd-r

and the format is AVI video clip

Does your player play dvd-r?
Does your player play avi files? Many won't.
What dvd player is it?
