code to change isp

i want to change my isp what is the code i need and have been told it will be a hell of a job to get it from my present isp why?

you need the MAC code from your current ISP, and they must issue it to you within 5 working days. (although if you're not out of your contract there may be something to pay for leaving the contract early)
