Large Hourglass

Why does a large hourglass keep appearing on screen instead of the arrow? I then have to delete the page and start again. TIA

When exactly does the hourglass appear? Is it when you are formatting a document?or when browsing the internet?
The hourglass symbol usually appears when the computer is 'busy',such as when saving a document or when trying to open a webpage that has lots of images on it.

It could just be that the page you want to view has too many images for your internet speed to download properly.I used to have the same problem years ago when I was still on dial-up internet. I'm sorry I can't help any further,maybe one of the techies such as Chuck or AC will have some suggestions as to how you can prevent/cure the problem.

the hourglass just means "hang on a mo"

if it's when browsing - try emptying the browser cache and increasing the available diskspace

tools | internet options | general |
and then the delete and settings buttons hold the key
5-600 mb if you have the space

also download install - and run ccleaner (every so often - every other month is fine)
