I recently changed from a Windows desk top to a laptop (Vista) a friend backed up my files from outlook and put them on my laptop, now I cant open anything, I.ve tried several downloads but to no avail Most of it is MSG Files and some Compressed (Zipped) folder.. any help would be appriciated

the Outlook files should be in a .pst format and may well be in that zipped folder, but let's start with the obvious - have you actually got Outlook nistalled onyour new computer? It's not something that comes as standard and isdifferent to Microsoft Mail, or Outlook express,

Yes it is installed. and this is what appears when i atempt to open anything ...

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.
see, outlook is an email system, windows media player is a music and video library... two very different programs.

What exactly are you trying to gain access to?

it is all of my saved e mails (jokes carton etc.) As you have probably ascertained I am not that computer litterate

Dear Jujuman, try downloading a version of winzip wich will 'un-zipp' your files and MSG files might be opened by microsoft outlook :) hoping that this is of some use to you!
