Printing labels onto Disc

A friend of mine, say's that he has read somewhere that labels can be printed in the computer, straight onto a disc without a printer.

Has anyone else heard of this?

It seems impossable to me, but with the advance in technology, it makes me wonder.

I believe it only prints in greyscale at the moment though.
Lightscribe prints in greyscale and is almost unreadable except with large fonts (don't even think about printing graphics). It also takes anything up to 20 minutes to print a single disk.
