lost emails

I have had several emails literally just disappeared from my Virgin Webmail.
I opened a message and then opened the link to a travel site....usually these open into a new window,however this didn`t...I had not noticed this and closed the window,thus closing my webmail...no problem...has happened before.
So logged back onto my webmail ...only to find ALL my unopened emails...puff...gone!!!!

Have tried every way to find them,even rang Virgin to see whether they could resend as I had been told they should have all this data at there end...no result!

Does anyone know how to I can retrieve these messages....I am desperate.
