Thanks Sqad. I mentioned it to the consultant, is that who you mean? I didn't speak to a doctor (apart from the consultant) at the hospital. He told me he couldn't advise on what might be causing the pain as he was purely gynae, and said I need to go back to the GP for referral for a second scan to cover liver, bladder and I think he said stomach, although I thought the scan I had would have covered the stomach.
He did say the fibroids usually shrink as you get older. He didn't mention getting rid of them. I wonder if they are the cause of my lower pain, but the pain higher up is still a puzzle.
