For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It is a P2P sharing application. I think it is not illegal to distribute it or even install it but it is illegal to download using it. You are ripping people off by not paying for music/software/games/films etc Just think: Jim Carey will only be paid $25 million instead of $30 million for his next film because of people like you.
In a recent 'Kerrang' magazine issue, there was an article saying that the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) were prosecuting 28 people for file sharing music using Kazza and Limelite, and were going to seek damages from those that uploaded the files onto the networks.
There have been 459 lawsuits issued in Denmark, Austria, Germany, France, Italy and the UK, with a further 5,000+ in the USA so far and there promises to be more in the future.....
Be warned!!!
Not everything you can download is necessarily illegal content (some software folk use P2P to distribute applications), but pretty much anything you might want to download will be!
There are a number of legal download sites (mycokemusic, Napster, iTunes etc), but you will have to pay for the privilege.
That said, most people seem to think WinMX is the best program for P2P music. I haven't been impressed whenever I've tried it - but I am mainly after old 80's TV episodes that aren't out on VHS/DVD. Only 2 people seem to have them, and they are never on long enough to get anything from them :-(.
Kerrang aren't the only ones who have reported on the legal action being taken by the BPI: see the link below

Also slimfandango..... May be an eye test is in order as you seem to have confused 'Phonographical' with 'Pornographical' !!!! No offence intended I assure you!!
Lindy Loo,
Thanks for pointing that out to me. However I think you are missing the point. Phonography is nothing but the exploitation of women by ruthless men. I was flicking through the latest audition of 'Rustler' the other day, and was disgusted by what I heard. And I do not suffer from dylexia as you seem to insest. And there is nothing wrong with my eyesite, I listened to everything my mother said to me when she taught me singlehandedly.
