I had need to copy a received email and paste to create a new email.

Some passages where in a different font colour, and although I highlighted them and changed the font colour, they would not change.

There where also some lines of text that where spaced at double the spacing of normal lines of text.

Could anyone tell me why I could not change the colour?

And how does one increase or decrease the spacing of lines?

the easiest and quickest way to get rid strange formatting when doing this sort of thing is paste it into notepad first and then copy it again from notepad.
At http://www.papercut.com/emailStripper.htm you can download a small free utility called emailstripper. This also takes out the funny forwarding signs etc. When you paste it into a new mail after 'stripping' you can format size, colour etc. as usual.
