Removing mail from an IMac

I own a G4 IMac which is 5 years old and is running OS X 10.4.11 I have also moved from Virgin Media to Sky recently and changed my 2 email addresses to Sky email. The problem I have is that I still appear tp be receiving email from the Virgin a/c - I've had several messages that my mailbox is full, and have deleted all the mail that has been downloaded. I'm still left with (at present) 839 messages none of which I can download - so where are they being stored and how can I delete them? I also have tried to delate the mailbox and that won't delete either. Has anyone got any (sensible) advice please? Thanks.

If so, you can go into the preferences there, and click the account name that appears. Then, there's a little minus button below it, which you can click to remove it.
