Is it possible to use gaming joysticks for standard PC work, i.e. as a 'normal' mouse? I ask because I've been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome and am having a workplace assessment done this week, where they'll advise on stuff like ergonomic mice and keyboards. I want to buy whatever they suggest for my own use at home, and wondered if a conventional gaming joystick would be suitable, given the relative low cost compared to vertical mice.

You might want to look at using a graphic tablet and pen. I have one and it is the best thing I ever bought. Once you get used to it you will find it much faster than a mouse
