Help please. How or where do I find the copyright sign?

Assuming that the number lock on your keyboard is 'on' (which it normally is by default) hold down the Alt key and type 0169 on the numeric keypad (not on the number keys above the letters). When you release the Alt key the symbol will appear.

What a lot of unnecessarily sophisticated complications! You'd hardly remember the Alt code for a start, unless you were using the symbol all the time.

If you are using MS Word, there's a built-in Autocorrect: Type (c) and it automatically converts to ©. Similarly (r) for ®, Ctm) for ™ etc. If you are not in Word, you can use the Character Map (charmap.exe from the Run command or make a handly shortcut for it) and Select and Copy.

ohhh i dunno mallam..
i think i quite like the holding down of the alt key while you type in 0169,
and to be honest, after these posts on it, i dont think i or the others will ever ever forget how to do it, if such a time cropped up in the future that we needed a © sign! ;o)

On Macs it's Alt G. Maybe same for PCs...?

Yeah, right, looby. Tell u what I do like doing, and that's entering Alt+0160. Now that's really useful. It's a non-breaking space, and Windows lets you enter it as the first character of a file name, which means it lists it at the top alphanumerically, so that when youre looking for something that youve labelled that way it catches your eye. And once youve entered that, it will accept an ordinary space as the next character, whereas it's not permitted as the first character. Using combinations of these you can really ut things where you can find them. As far as I know this system is peculiar to me, but there it is for what it's worth.

But 0160 is the ONLY alt number I can ever remember come wind come weather. Whatever otheres I find I need soon fade from memory.

Gosh! Thank you all for going to so much trouble. I am delighted to know all these things ( I am being serious!) and it is really helpful.PS I love all the interplay between you all as well!! Shall print out the instructions for future reference.
