How to an email alert on yahoo mail..

Can i set my yahoo mail to alert me when new mail comes in.. On my old Pc a box used to open by the clock on the bottom right and show up when an email came in.. How can i set this up on my laptop i use Yahoo mail on it to.. Have searched google but it mostly tells me how to set it up for yahoo messenger in preferences.. thanks..

I think you need to ensure yahoo messenger starts up automatically. Thats the only way I know of alerting to messages received into yahoo. Trillian is supposed to be good. You can configure it to communiate with yahoo and msn contacts (and others).
