removing data from laptop

I am lending my laptop to someone but i dont want them to see the sites that I have visited (its my Ex !).
How do you clear private data from a lap top ?

CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ will get rid of most of it, but if you are really paranoid about what he might find from deleted files you could download Eraser from http://eraser.heidi.ie/ and have it go over the free space on your drive, but that could take a long time
