Recycle Bin

I have just deleted an Excel doc and when I changed my mind and tried to retrive it, I noticed that it did not go into the Recycle Bin. Can you tell me how to activate this please, so that doc's I delete go into the Bin.

Right click on recycle bin and select properties. Untick "Do not move to recycle bin".

Sort the files in recycle bin by date.

Do other deleted files go in there?

TTG There are no files/documents in there. I have just made 2 dummy documents and deleted them, but wasn't asked if I wanted to send them to the Recycle Bin, and they weren't in there when I checked.
(Please don't think i'm rude if you respond to me and I don't answer, as I am leaving at 5pm.)
