GAMEZTAR
5 Answers
My 12 year old daughter's laptop is, all of a sudden, showing pop-ups constantly. I have Bit Defender on it and it is saying 'protected, no issues affecting the security status of this pc.' Have done a deep scan and not picking up any virus. We have noticed something called 'gameztar' keeps coming up when we try to download anything ie I tried to re-download virgin media pc guard to use their pop-up stopping service and when I sign into virgin media and click on the link to download pc guard it directs me to a 'gameztar' page and I cannot do anything about it. We have tried to delete 'gameztar' and thought we had done it but there must be hidden files somewhere messing with the laptop!
What can we do??? As I say my daughter is 12 and some of these pop-ups are 'adult'! So I have stopped her using it until the problem is sorted, but we don't know how to sort it.
HELP PLEASE!

Download the free version of Malwarebytes and run a "quick scan". That might spot something.
You can download it for free from here http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
