Why can't I burn a CD?

I am wasting CDs trying to burn an album from itunes. It normally works okay but for some reason keeps failing. I set it to 3 secs between each song, and slowed the burn speed down a bit, but it still fails about half way through burning.
Any idea what the problem could be?
