Lost icons from Notification area
Don't know how, but i seem to have lost a few icons from the notification area! I've tried various places but can't find them! They include volume, Internet connection made, among others. I know someone will say how careless I was, but can anybody help please? Operating System is VISTA

They actually don't even appear in the 'customize notifications'. Even if I click on 'default settings' they don't appear. I thought by at least clicking on that it would return to 'manufacturer settings'. Have they gone forever? What will I do without them - I almost feel suicidal!! :)
OK, for volume control
click start > run and type "Mmsys.cpl" into the run box, make sure you are one the volume tab and put a tick in "place volume icon on task bar"
For the internet connection
Click start > settings > networks connections then right click on the network connection you use to connect to the internet , select properties and make sure there is a tick in the "show icon on task bar when connected"

actually I didn't spot it was vista! so also look at.
Go to the start menu icon in the left corner
Right click on it to bring a menu up
Choose properties from the menu
Go to the Notification Area Tab
Click on customize to change the settings for each icon that shows up in the notification area

firstly, let me say thankyou - to rojash for being as daft as me(!) and to ChuckFickens for being the one to give me the answer. Strange thing is, I tried what you said before, but I could not check 'volume', 'network' or 'power'. This time, suddenly I can and everything works. Do you have some control over my PC?
