How you scrolled down to see if there is anything there other than image recorder?
There should be something label with a single capital letter and a colon. For example

H: *then some other information regarding the writter*

hiya dizmouk,
thanks for replying,
yeah ive tried to scroll but theres nothing to scroll as theres only the image recorder on there
If you can't see anything but 'Image Recorder' in the drop down box it means nero can't see (locate) your cd drive. Questions I need to ask you to try and help you..:

1. Do you have a CD drive? If the answer is 'yes' GO TO question 3, If the answer is 'no' GO TO question 2
2. Buy a CD writer, or a DVD/CD writer
3. Is the CD drive deffernatly a CD writer?
I wrote the last answer after reading yours but since I had nearly finished it I didn't see the point in deleting it :)
To determine the answer to question 3 - There should be a logo that reads "RW" on the front of the drive.

yeah its def a cd writer, i did a disc earlier on windows media player and it was fine,
but i wanted to edit the length of a song on a particular track as there was too much time at the end of the song before he next one started,
and i knew nero can do that, so after adjusting the time length of the said track, im now wanting to burn the cd using nero
What version of Nero are you using?
Question Author
its an old disc ive had years - nero 5
When were you last able to actually burn a CD with that version of Nero?
I've just read that Nero 5.5.10.50 has issues with Burning CD's. I'm trying to find you an update, you have to bare in mind though that Nero 5 is extremely old!
Question Author
i remember using it about 6 years ago on my first laptop and everything went straight forward and it worked ok.
i tried to do a music disc again say last year when i discovered the disc after having a clear out, but i remember having to give up as i had problems (probably the same ones as tonight!)
Question Author
ok thank you dizmouk, i really do appreciate your time and help youre giving me, thank you
I'm finding it impossible to find a patch for nero 5 to nero 5.5. All I can suggest doing is getting nero 9 (demo version should do what you need it to do). I can't really think of a better way to do it sorry :(
Question Author
ok dizmouk, i will give that a try then,
thanks ever so much for your time,
at least i now know it wasnt me who wasnt doing something right lol
thanks again, i appreciate you trying to help me :o)
No problem loobylooo, any time :)
Dizmo the computer genius is always willing to help ;p x
Question Author
thank you, i will remember that! lol

tut - i read your name as dizmook ... i didnt realize it was dizmo-uk lol
No worries! Alot of people think its Dizmook lol, I can live with that, I've been called far worse - although technically you never called me that (but you thought it) :)

Let me know how you get on with Nero 9, I'm a dinosaur, I still have nero 7 hehe

Have fun! x
Question Author
ok dizmoooook lol ..will do :o) x
Question Author
still no good dizmo,
i downloaded the free trial of nero 9, and it took aaages!
and still, when i go to choose the recorder, it still only comes up as an image recorder.
i give up! lol
night night
Try CDBurnerXP, it's free and works with most files.
