Remove spyware

HI My friend has a problem with spyware.He gets a message that his comp.is infected with spyware and needs antivirur check.He has Norton360 installed and tried quick chech.This says nothing found.When he tries to run full check it seems to stop on updating and not move to next checks.The virus seems to still be in comp because if he tries rool back it refuses and says he needs an antivirus check.Any ideas.

Run "Hijackthis" preferably from a pen drive and check every process. There is a lot of help available with this on web. You can stop suspicious processes running. Disable System restore and do a FULL scan. Follow recommendations. Clean out ALL Temp Folders completely, including Browser cache and Java cache (via Control Panel Applet (if installed)

Removal instructions work, I just fixed a friend's laptop. LSP fix will restore internet connection it can disable.
