Re-recordable CDs.

I am trying to overwrite onto a currently 'written' on re-recordable CD and my PC won't let me. I am running XP and Windows Media Player and when I want to burn onto the CD it comes up with the error message telling me to put in a blank cd. I have tried to delete the contents and the stupid computer tells me I can overwrite it but then the same stupid machine tells me to put a blank CD in. I have tried using the DVD and CD drive but to no avail

What can I do other than spending loads of money on fresh CDs every time I get bored of my music collection in the car? I am also using genuine downloads from proper web sites i.e. Woolworths.

cd's hardly cost lods do they ?!

i buy 100 verbatim ones for about 15-20 quid ie 15-20p per disc

You will need a programme such as Nero InCD to do this successfully but as mattk says blank CDs are hardly expensive and if you have purchased downloaded material you are wasting more money by overwriting it than you would spend buying blank CDs.You might be sick of the music now but in a year or so you may want to listen to it again.For really cheap good quality disks go to :-http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/

I assume we're talking about a cd-rw?

first you may have to unfinalise the disc, then erase.
