Low running cost printer/scanner?

I'm looking for a reasonably priced printer/scanner that doesnt cost a fortune in cartridges.... maybe I should be looking for separate printer and scanner? Any suggestions? Thanks..

The Kodak models are excellent and inks are very reasonable.
Many printers inks cost more than the machine!

If you do a lot of printing, a laser printer may be suitable for your needs. They are quite affordable nowadays.

If economy is your main aim for home-volume printing look at the cost of replacement/re-filling cartridges before you decide on a printer. Remember that some of the cheaper inks are for general use only and print a terrible photo and colours are not true.

Very few cheap compatable inks do a great job and are probably responsible for more printers ending up in the dump than any other cause.
