Internet connection

I really need step by step instructions for connecting my wife's laptop to the internet going through the Belkin Wireless Modem Router that I have connected to my computer and using TalkTalk as my ISP . Her system is using Windows 7,as is mine, but we can't seem to get her connected! We have been conncted to the internet before but that was going through the Smart AX MT882 supplied by Talktalk.
I kept dropping my connection so got TT to run some tests and they concluded that the Smart modem was faulty. So I thought as the Belkin has a modem built in why not simply use just this one item. Now I can't get my wifes laptop to connect - the bottom right of screen( on laptop) shows about 5 or 6 names and one is the one I'm using, even though it's showing a strong connection and good security it doesn't connect.
Any advice please.I mean,I don't even know what questions to ask!!
